You probably know Charley Harper's art. Colorful, whimsical representations of the natural world. "Minimal realism," he called it.

But what about Harper's words?

"I’ve always contended that his writing is at a level of quality that is as high as his art," his son and studio director, Brett Harper, said.

You can get a better taste of that writing – and of the late Harper's art – in the updated edition of "Beguiled by the Wild: The Art of Charley Harper." A book launch party, with Brett Harper in attendance, will take place at the Downtown location of Fabulous Frames & Art on Friday.

Originally published in 1994 and out of print for years, the book is back, updated and reprinted.

With the added images, it's now the only book to feature all of Harper's limited edition silkscreen prints from 1968 until his death in 2007.
